Sambhar Watershed Update, January 2012

Since November, seven watershed structures have been completed in the villages of Ringi, Habaspura, Kotri, Bawali, Jhag, and Nosal around the Sambhar Salt Lake in Rajasthan. These structures will recharge the groundwater supply and provide safe drinking water for the communities in this area. Sambhar Watershed Update, November 2011

In collaboration with the local grassroots organizations Manthan Sanstha and Prayatna Sansthan, FORRAD has implemented watershed construction projects to collect rainwater before it becomes saline at 31 locations around the Sambhar Salt Lake. Work has begun at four watershed construction sites (Nosal Charaga Bandha, Jhag Khedi ki Dhani, Kotri Balaji Temple Bandha, and Ringi Charaga Anicut) in the Sambhar Salt Lake region of Rajasthan, with work to start at Habaspura Gochar Nadi and Ujoli Moharia Naka Bandha shortly.
